OCTOBER 2022: Secret Mission Briefing CANCER PATIENTS/SURVIVORS

During the month of OCTOBER, GSSA Headquarters encourages its GSS Agents to conduct secret missions to help individuals who are being treated for a cancer diagnosis or a cancer survivor. Unfortunately, most of us know someone who is or has suffered or died from this terrible disease. According to the National Institutes of Health, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US with almost 2 million new cancer diagnoses each year and more than 600,000 deaths.

Fortunately, there are many organizations conducting research and developing new treatments each year to prevent and treat the disease. The thousands of people each year that receive the diagnoses each year and bravely fight the disease need as much help and support as possible.

We are grateful to the researchers, doctors, nurses and caregivers who are committed and dedicated to developing and implementing treatments and reducing the pain of cancer patients and survivors. While they and the family members of cancer patients and survivors do a lot of the heavy lifting to provide help and comfort to people suffering from the disease, there are small things we can do as GSS Agents to help.

Below are a few secret missions you can do this month to help someone you know that is currently suffering from cancer and/or is a cancer survivor:

- Drop off or send flowers, inspiring books, puzzles, video, comfortable blanket, queasy drops, or headgear to someone you know who has cancer.

- Send a card to sick children who are fighting serious illnesses through the St Jude’s website.

- Secretly send a meal to a person going through Chemo or a house cleaning gift card to be used while they are away being treated.

- Anonymously donate to cancer research using your God’s Secret Service Agents number rather than using your name, if possible.
