Are you a Good Samaritan?

National Good Samaritan Day is on March 13th, 2022 and it recognizes the unselfish actions of those who provide help when needed. The term “good Samaritan” comes from the Bible parable where a Samaritan helped a stranger who had been robbed and beaten and left to die by the side of the road. The Samaritan not only cleaned the man’s wounds and clothed him but took him to an Inn where he paid for the man’s care. The moral of the story is that you should put aside your differences and help those who are in need of help. The Samaritan did not think about the race or the religion of the man; he just saw a man who needed help.

I could not think of a more parallel cause to God’s Secret Service Agents! One of the things that makes our organization so unique is the very idea of doing for others so sincerely, and so selflessly, that we do not even require recognition. Many people help others because we are expecting a reward of some sort, including praise or a thank you. We return a lost wallet and expect the owner to reward us. We help our friends because we assume that they'll also help us when we are in need. But, in doing so, we create a world where we only help “our kind” and those who are “one of us”. God’s Secret Service Agents are building a movement that challenges ourselves and each other to give because we trust so much in God’s grace we look to Him for our recognition and rewards, here on earth as well as in Heaven.

On National Good Samaritan Day, let’s go the extra mile and try to do as many good deeds in Secret as possible! So, put on your GSS Agent spy glasses and hat and let’s:

  • Donate some money to help the people in Ukraine

  • Leave money taped to the gas pump for the person who comes after us.

  • Send a bouquet of flowers to someone who may be struggling”

  • Drop off home-made cookies to our local fire station.

  • Donate newborn clothing to the Maternity ward at a nearby hospital.

  • Make a donation to a doctor’s office or hospital to help towards someone’s medical bill

  • Give a secret positive review of a salesclerk to their Manager

Don’t forget to add a note of encouragement to let them know they are loved by God and others, as well as your GSS Agent number, letting people know about our awesome organization! Let’s try to make being a “Good Samaritan” or one of “God’s Secret Service Agents” the new standard of living, giving and serving. Secretly, selflessly, and truly from the heart.
